Whenever there is something new-to-us it is difficult to get started without knowledge, experience or support. CultivatED is bringing ALL of that to you through our homeschool support meet ups. We talk about various topics on homeschooling from our hopes and dreams to how to create a homeschool portfolio to what are learning standards? This is a new group and we meet the last Monday of each month. We can’t wait to support you on your homeschooling journey!

  • You write a letter to your district called a “letter of intent” informing them in a professional manner that you will be homeschooling your child accompanied by basic information; before July 1st of the year you plan to start.

  • Expectations of NYS is to keep a record of the number of hours, days and subjects you are teaching. Use this as a starting point. CultivatED Parenting recommends that you keep a homeschool portfolio to assist in writing the trimesterly/quarterly reports.

  • A lot of people do not understand the benefits of homeschooling. Before making this decision together, provide detailed information and research on the benefits of this path. Most of the time spouses disagree because they do not have a clear picture of what home education is like, they are seeing the worlds view of it.

  • Building confidence in WHY you’re choosing to homeschool and your abilities in doing so. Having a supportive community is key. CultivatED Parenting runs playdates, free virtual support groups and has virtually community memberships you can join!

  • As a public school teacher, I found myself overwhelmed with the free resources of information online and the packet set to me from our district. Due to this we almost considered not homeschooling! Which is not aligned with our values. CultivatED Parenting created “Cultivated and Compliance” to solve this need!
